3 Malawians nominated for 2024 MVAA

Musicians Onesimus and Charisma, along with media personality Priscilla Kayira, have been nominated for the 2024 Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA).

Onesimus’ hit Controller has been nominated for best MVAA song of the year, Charisma known for his impeccable fashion style is on best MVAA dressed celebrity of the year. Meanwhile, Kayira has been nominated for best MVAA female media personality of the year.

Onesimus: I am grateful for the positive feedback

Controller happened in a very fast way. I wrote the song in 2023, but decided to release it this year and I’m grateful for the positive feedback the song has received,” he said.

Reflecting on his nomination, Charisma expressed his excitement and gratitude.

He further emphasised the significance of the nomination when it comes to fashion.

Charisma (L): It is not easy to pick at outfit

“It’s not easy to pick up an outfit and go outside. Dressing yourself is not easy and to stand out you must have that talent so that when people see you out there, they should be able to appreciate. And also, fashion goes together with music,” he said.

On her part, Kayira described the nomination as an honour as well as an inspiration to those in the media sector.

“I hope the nominations will raise the flag, but also inspire those in the media sector, especially on the entertainment side, to put themselves out there because sometimes it is worth the risk,” she said.

Kayira said the nomination shows how the country is slowly pushing to break barriers.

The three have urged fans to vote so that the awards find their way in the country.

The MVAA are Nigerian awards that recognise and honour exceptional talent.
