Veteran musician Ben Mankhamba’s daughter Jenna Tuesday debuted as Tina in The Tina Turner Musical in London, the United Kingdom.
Mankhamba, famed for tracks such as ‘Kambaanga Mwala’, has since congratulated the daughter for an exceptional performance.
“Jenna, congratulations for a splendid performance last night (Monday). Tears of joy cannot stop running down my cheeks,” he wrote on his social media page.
He said despite not being well-known in the country, Jenna is a top –notch artist, describing her as a ‘Pangolin’, referring to the protected animal known as pangolin.
Mankhamba, who is also Village Head Chingalire, said he has watched Jenna advance in her art career alongside her brother Tink and that now she is making it big in the creative world.
“This is huge for Malawi. She needs to be utilised and Malawi’s High Commission in the United Kingdom should take advantage [of that opportunity],” he said.
Jenna, a name that also runs in Mankhamba’s dancing team of Jenna sisters, studied at the Sixth Form at Arts Educational London School.
The production Tina– The Musical is dedicated to the memory of Tina Turner, who passed away in May 2023.

Following an incredible comeback in the early 1980s, Tina is now considered to be one of the best-selling artists of all time—and the reigning Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
She has garnered 11 Grammy Awards and three Grammy Hall of Fame awards, plus a legion of fans world over.
