Joyous Celebration crew starts jetting in

By Jimmy Chazama

Members of South African gospel music group Joyous Celebration started arriving in the country yesterday.

They are here for the Mega Gospel Concert with Joyous 28.

It will be held at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Friday.

The team included members of the production crew and vocalists, with another squad expected to jet in today.

The last group is expected in the country tomorrow.

Upon arrival, members of the crew descended on City Mall, where they distributed posters in their quest to woo music lovers to patronise the event.

The group has indicated that it will treat gospel music lovers to both new and old songs.

It will also record the event live on the night of music of praise and worship.

Joyous Celebration is expected to share the stage with local acts such as Psalmist Zulu, Great Angels Choir, Ndirande Anglican Voices and Debbie N.

The gospel group was formed in 1994 by Mthunzi Namba, Jabu Hlongwane and Lindelani Mkhize.

Organisers of the concert, Psalm Celebrations, said at a press briefing on Tuesday that all was set for the concert.

“We are fully prepared for it as we want to make this show historical.

“We, therefore, call upon people to come to the event in large numbers,” Chief Event Organiser Godfrey Zulu said.

He also assured people of tight security.
