U nited States of America Grammy Award-winning collective gospel group Maverick City Music and legendary gospel musician Kirk Franklin will perform at Malawi Square at Umodzi Park in Lilongwe.

Their visit to Malawi is part of the Kingdom World Tour organised by Fresh Impressions and the show is slated for August 11.

In an interview, one of the local coordinators of the event Sam Mjura said the show will be part of the group’s world tour which will see them perform in Africa, Europe and Asia.

“The show is indeed coming to Malawi as part of their Kingdom Tour. In Africa they have stops in South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. It will be a time for people to gather, sing, dance and worship God with some of the world’s biggest worship names,” he said.

According to Mjura, the concert will feature local artists who will be announced soon once the organising team finalises agreement with the local acts.

He also said tickets for the show are already available and those who want to attend the event can start purchasing.

“Tickets are available online at the Kwenda.com website and can be purchased via Airtel money and Mpamba. But the team is also working on having physical tickets which will be sold in outlets that will be announced in the coming weeks,” he added.

Meanwhile fans have already started expressing excitement, describing the show as a one-time experience for gospel music lovers.

“This is a must-go show,” said Prisca Ngwenyama in a Facebook post about the event. Nyede Kaimfa said: “This will be legendary, I can’t wait to see Maverick City and Kirk Franklin perform live.”
