Onesimus sings second award

Musician Onesimus on Saturday bagged the Male Artist Award at the Hapa Awards, which came barely a week after he scooped the Best Star Artist of the Year Award in South Africa.

The artist could not hide his excitement with the award, saying he knew he was nominated but he never imagined that he would grab the accolade.

“It is all glory to God. I came here to perform because I was invited. Of course, I knew I was nominated alongside the likes of Harmonize but I never saw the award coming,” the ‘Panado’ maker said.

He said it is no mean achievement to collect two awards in a week.

“This just underlines that Malawi is doing well in music, we just have to continue pushing and making sure that we remain faithful to quality,” Onesimus said.

Apart from the award, which he dedicated to Malawians, Onesimus also performed at the awards which attracted the presence of government officials.

The artist has also recently taken TikTok by storm.

He recently entered the UK hot spot of the week with ‘Controller’.

The artist told TimesLive in June this year that he is on a mission to cement his name in the music industry globally.

His latest award adds to his other accolades including Best Male Artist at the 2019 Afrima Awards and Best Artist of the Year at the Zambian Zikomo Awards.
