Zanga Festival, led by musician Joe Kellz, lived up to its billing on Saturday attracting impressive patronage dominated by young people at Likuni Boys Secondary School Ground in Lilongwe.
The festival, aimed at showcasing talents from the outskirts of Chinsapo and Likuni, where Joe Kellz grew up, offered the much needed fun and entertainment.
Over 30 artists starred at the fiesta and they included Avokado, who was one of the outstanding acts with his energetic performance, Emmie Deebo, Wikise, Phyzix, Tsa Leo, Mwanache, Chizmo Njuchi, Kellie Divine Njuchi, Gibo Lantos, Tsa Leo and Adobe Dance Crew.
Joe Kellz also served his music including the track ‘Moyo’ at the event that received support from Hifi Electronics.
The former Zathu Band member and My Booth winner described the event as a success and hailed people for turning up in large numbers.
“Many artists also showed up. We plan to host the event again next year, but in August, to avoid the rainy season. Luckily, we did not have rains,” he said.
Up-and-coming artist Jahmique, a dancehall musician based in Lilongwe, said events like these help new artists to gain exposure.
“This was my first time performing in front of a large crowd. I will keep working on my music to get to the top,” he said.
