Christmas carols take off

With 15 days to Christmas, players in the arts industry have been setting the mood for the day Christians commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

On Sunday afternoon, for example, Mackenzie and Holy Cross Anglican choirs organised a Christmas Carols outing at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Blantyre.

It turned out to be a proper warm-up for Christmas.

Although it rained heavily that afternoon, this did not keep choirs and the audience away from the action.

Choir Director Anderson Makalande described the event as important.

“Glory be to God that everything went well. The turn-up was good compared to the previous event, where only choirs showed up,” Makalande said.

Chairperson for the event, Tawanda Madovi, said the event lived up to its billing.

At the event, which also attracted choirs such as Winning Team, Christmas Carols such as ‘Silent Night’ became the anthem.
