Lilly Alfonso to open luxurious store at Kamuzu International Airport

Award winning fashion designer Lilly Alfonso continues to set pace in the world of fashion as she is destined to open a luxurious store at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe soon.

Fresh from receiving the prestigious Legacy of Style Award in South Africa recently, Alfonso said the opening of the store is part of her 100 Year Plan, which has seen her embarking on a number of projects including nurturing talent of up and coming fashion designers.

“This is part of the 100 Year Plan project and coming to this far brings me excitement. The boutique embodies our commitment to deliver exceptional luxury retail experiences by showcasing high-end fashion and accessories, exquisite jewelry and time pieces,” the Lilongwe-based designer said.

Alfonso, who has showcased her designs in several international platforms representing Malawi, said she is still on the run to fully fulfill the 100 Year Plan.

“Through the 100 Year Plan we have been able to reach out to people, who are needy through fashion. Through this project, we have been able to work with up and coming fashion designers and some are doing well,” she said.

Alfonso said through the store, they are also selling Malawi to the world and bringing some of the fashion products closer especially for people, travelling in and outside the country.

“There are times people fail to buy some of the fashion products because they are rushing or are not able to get to the shops in town. Now we are bringing them closer to the airport. The store will be stocked with fashion products from other designers as well as part of the 100 Year Plan,” she said.

Alfonso could not however, be drawn to say when the store will be opened.

“We will announce the date soon. We are just making final touches but fashion lovers should just watch the space,” she said.
