The second edition of Ku Mingoli Music Bash, led by Sound Addicts Live, drew an impressive audience dominated by young people at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Featuring an all-local cast, the music party, which debuted last year, started on Saturday and went all the way to the wee hours of yesterday, keeping fan lovers lively throughout.
Musicians took turns on stage to entertain the audience with their sounds with some offering outstanding acts whereas others had shortfalls in their sets.
Some of the artists that performed at the event, which seeks to elevate the country’s music, included ‘Galu Ndine’ star Gibo Pearson, Gwamba, Tuno, Kineo and Aidfest, Temwah, Emmie Deebo, Eli Njuchi and Praise Umali.
Gibo Pearson, who served a number of songs on his menu and did not skip ‘Izathera Ma Penalty’, a romantic track that put him in the limelight, could not hide his excitement with his performance at the music bash.
“I enjoyed every moment. People gave me all the support, which gave me energy. I look forward to more of such platforms,” he said.
The music bash received support from companies such as Castel Malawi, Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) plc and Tecno Malawi.
Tecno Malawi Public Relations Officer Thomas Siveliwa applauded organisers for what he described as a “successful show”.
“We are impressed, especially with presence of many young people. This aligns with our goals as a mobile company that works with the youth,” Siveliwa said, further assuring Ku Mingoli Bash of their continued support.
TNM Head of Brands and Marketing Madalitso Jonazi said their sponsorship made this year’s edition more unique, including use of e-ticketing to buy tickets.
“We want people to embrace e-ticketing and we want event organisers and artists to use it during their events,” Jonazi said.
Dalitso Nyali, a resident of Mtandire, who patronised the show, said the event lived up to its billing.
“I have no problems with the music bash. I enjoyed it and let me commend them for utilising our own artists,” Nyali said.
Sound Addicts Live Director Shadreck Kalukusha, who is also a renowned sound engineer, hailed people for turning up for the second edition of Ku Mingoli Bash.
“What a perfect outing. It was good starting from the performances and we would like to thank people for the massive support and then the sponsors,” Kalukusha said.
