State-run Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has said it is dedicated to uplifting the creative sector in the country, hence the introduction of MBC 2 On The Go.
MBC Director General George Kasakula made the remarks on Tuesday during a press briefing on the channel updates for MBC TV1 and MBC2 On The Go on DStv and GOtv.
Following the updates, MBC TV1 will be airing on channel 268 on DStv while MBC 2 On The Go will be available on channel 269.
On GOtv, MBC TV1 will be airing on channel 15 whereas MBC 2 On The Go will be screening on channel 16.
“Through MBC 2 On The Go, we want to promote arts, and the changes are designed to ensure that Malawians can easily access arts and entertainment news. So, we are excited to have it on DStv and GOtv,” Kasakula said.
Multichoice Malawi Managing Director Averess Ndhlovu Chella said they were hopeful that their customers would appreciate the quality of local content.
“MBC2 will join MBCTV 1 in offering a diverse range of programmes that celebrate Malawian culture, including news, entertainment and music, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of our nation’s heritage,” Chella said.
She said the move was part of their ongoing efforts to bring the best entertainment to their customer base.
MBC 2 On The Go was launched last year to provide a television channel specifically targeting young people.
