Model finally makes it to Milan Fashion Week

Germany-based model Racheal Gausi Hoepfner is featuring at the Milan Fashion Week in Italy. Gausi Hoepfner, who is a nurse, has been reeling to showcase her talent at the Milan Fashion Week. She has finally done it.

“Walking in Milan Fashion Week has been a dream of mine as long as I can remember, and to finally experience it feels surreal,” she said.

Gausi Hoepfner, who left Malawi for Germany in 2016, described Milan Fashion Week as the heart of fashion, such that “being part of such an iconic event is truly an honour”.

“But is not just about the moment on the runway; it is a lot of hard work. There are days of fittings, rehearsals and training to perfect every step for the catwalk,” she said.

The 38-year-old model added that “but it is all worth it when you step onto the stage”. Gausi Hoepfner said she was grateful for people’s continued support.

She added that she wanted to collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism as part of efforts to elevate Malawi’s tourism.

“This is my biggest wish; to even see my face on billboards in Berlin [Germany] proudly promoting the ‘Visit Malawi’ message. That will be a dream come true,” she said.

Having already starred at Berlin Fashion Week in Germany, Paris Fashion Week in France and Milan Fashion Week, Gausi Hoepfner is now looking forward to flying Malawi’s flag at other top events.

“For now, I am looking forward to featuring at the New York Fashion Week. That is my next goal,” she said.
