Onesimus bags another award

Renowned musician Onesimus has maintained the steam in his music game bagging the Song of the Year Award for the romantic hit ‘Controller’ in the Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA) 2024.

The awards took place in Lagos, Nigeria.

Onesimus’ latest award adds to the two awards he also won recently – Male Artist Award at the Hapa Awards in Tanzania and Best Star Artist of the Year Award in South Africa.

To grab the award, the artist popularly known as African Butter, outclassed other renowned artists and they include Yo Maps from Zambia and Portable from Nigeria.

He said yesterday that he will keep on working hard to grow his music and at the same time represent Malawi on the global scale.

“It is all glory to God. I will keep on working hard for Malawi. There is talent in Malawi and all we need to do is to continue being ourselves in our craft,” the ‘Solomon’ star, said.

Onesimus added: “‘Controller’ is six months old and has already brought three major awards in a space of one month”.

He also thanked people for believing in his craft saying “I do not take it for granted”.

Several people in the country and outside have since congratulated Onesimus for the success.

The artist also showed his progress in music recently when he was named amongst top 100 African male artists on Apple Music.

Onesimus has just dropped ‘Controller’ Remix which he did with Nigerian artist Joeboy.

The artist also wrote on his Facebook page recently that ‘Controller’ had been submitted for the 67th Grammy Awards under the Best African Music Performance.

Last month the artist struck a deal with K Motors as its brand ambassadors before he later left for Nigeria to shoot ‘Controller Remix’ with Joeboy.

The Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA) is an innovative platform dedicated to recognising and honouring exceptional talent within the African music video industry.
