Actor, playwright and writer Tawonga Taddja Nkhonjera has stitched another children’s book titled Chuchu and Other Stories.
The second book is a fitting sequel to He Helide and Other Stories.
“In the first book, He Helide, most of the stories were about life amongst people, how people treat each other and their relationships with each other,” he said.
In Chuchu and Other Stories, Taddja brings the age-old world of folktales into the contemporary world, addressing permaculture, money, greed, artificial intelligence and environmental conservation issues.
“I like folktales because they do not preach life lessons to you.
The learning sneaks in there while you are having fun, listening to a story, singing a song or dancing. The stories are short, perfect for today’s world where the attention span is short,” Taddja said.
The artist is also expected to go on a tour of South Africa with a production titled State of the Ape Address later this month.
