Apostle King James Phiri starts 2025 on a high

Gospel musician Apostle King James Phiri kicked off 2025 in style when he launched his fifth album titled Chipulumutso Ndi Wekha at Robin’s Park in Blantyre.

Being New Year and a public holiday, gospel music lovers, dominated by women, showed up for the launch dubbed New Year Gospel Bash.

The concert turned out to be a perfect stage for the audience to praise the Lord for the New Year apart from getting entertained with sounds from different artists on the menu.

The New Year Gospel Bash lived up to its stature.

However, sound glitches made it problematic for the artists to sing to perfection. It was because of the sound glitches that the show delayed to start, forcing some artists to be apportioned few songs. But despite this challenge, artists, led by the headliner, still put out spirited acts that kept the audience active and on the dance floor throughout.

Phiri, as the main artist, did not manage to perform all the songs in the 10-track album, with the title track ‘Chipulumutso Ndi Wekha’ dominating as the audience sang along to it.

There was a time for auction, with the album fetching more money, with the highest bidder being Bishop Kachali, who got it at K1 million.

“It was a successful show; people came out to support me. From here, I am now going to Lilongwe in April and then Mzuzu,” Phiri, who signed out with ‘Mukumane Ndi Moyo Wanga’ off his previous album said.

He said the fifth album is a continuation of the message in his other collections of uplifting the name of the Lord.

The album was recorded at M Studio by Steve Meleka.

Some of the artists that spiced up the concert included Milefa Sisters, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Eliza Mponya, Khama Khwiliro, Pastor Leonard, Francis Khembo, Mable Luwanda and Ndirande Anglican Voices, which closed the curtain.
