Producers of award-winning film School Days,4Kaya Film Production, are ready with their new movie titled Welcome to Maula Prison.
The film, powered by Universal Service Fund, will premiere in May this year, starting off with Lilongwe on May 2 before moving to Blantyre the following day and, then, Mzuzu City on May 4.
One of the players, Kendall Kamwendo of the Symon and Kendall music fame, said yesterday that they were set to put the film on the market.
“For now, we are just making final touches but we are almost done and we cannot wait for people to sample it. It has been another exciting time of shooting this film and I am sure people will enjoy every moment of it,” Kamwendo said.
Recently, 4Kaya Film Production Managing Director Daudi Shaibu said Welcome to Maula Prison was there to build up on the success of School Days.
“What we did in School Days was great but with Welcome to Maula Prison, we want to show that we are here to stay and that there is more to come from us,” Shaibu said.
The film tells the story of prison life.
Some of the actors starring in the film include Tumpe Mtaya, popularly known as Phwedo, who did exceptionally well in School Days, Amos Msekandiana and Desiree Namachotsa.
